How it works

  1. 01

    Find your company

Type your company number. Name, directors and deadlines come straight from the Companies House register.

  2. 02

    Start from last year

Last year's figures and shares are read from your previous accepted accounts, with a note saying where each one came from.

  3. 03

    Check in plain English

The balance sheet must balance, the period must be valid and the dates must match the register. Every problem is explained, not coded.

  4. 04

    You approve and submit

You read the final accounts, make the director's declaration and press submit. Nothing is ever sent without you.

Before anything is sent

A rejected filing after the deadline still earns a penalty. So FileMyLtd runs its checks before you approve, not after Companies House says no.

The numbers add up

Assets less liabilities equal capital and reserves, comparatives are present, and totals are recomputed rather than trusted.

The dates are right

The period ends on your accounting reference date and is no longer than 18 months, and the dates match what Companies House holds.

It matches the register

Company name, number and the signing director are taken from the Companies House register, so they can't be mistyped.

The file is valid iXBRL

Accounts are validated with Arelle, the open-source XBRL processor, against the current FRC taxonomy before you see the final version.

Your deadlines

Pick the date your accounting year ends to see when everything is due. FileMyLtd reads the real dates from Companies House and reminds you 60, 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before each.

This is the "period end": your accounting reference date. You can find it on your company's page on the Companies House register. First accounts after incorporation have a different deadline (21 months from incorporation); FileMyLtd uses the dates Companies House gives.

Built to be trusted

Your HMRC login isn't stored

Your HMRC online login is used for the one submission it's needed for, then discarded. It never sits in a database.

Two-factor sign-in

An authenticator app is required before anyone can approve or submit, and sensitive actions ask you to confirm again.

Encrypted where it matters

Your company UTR is encrypted before it is saved and shown only as its last two digits after that.

Data held in Europe

Accounts data and documents are stored in EU-jurisdiction storage, processed close to London.

You see everything first

The accounts you approve are exactly the accounts that are sent. There's no hidden step and no auto-submit.

A UK company behind it

Made by Cyber Spark IT Services Ltd, company 14891489, registered in England and Wales.

"The software should do the fiddly parts and explain the rest. The director should always be the one who presses submit."

FAQ

Can I file my company accounts myself, without an accountant?

Yes. Companies House guidance has a "file your own accounts" route for directors, and many dormant and micro-entity companies file without an accountant. You stay legally responsible for the accounts either way, so FileMyLtd explains each figure and checks it before anything is sent.

When does Companies House WebFiling stop taking accounts?

From 1 April 2028 all accounts, including dormant and revised accounts, must be filed with commercial software in iXBRL. There is no transition period. WebFiling stays open for other filings such as confirmation statements and director changes.

What do I need to file through FileMyLtd?

Your company number, the 6-character company authentication code, and a Companies House presenter ID and code for software filing. For the CT600 you also need the company's 10-digit UTR and your HMRC online login, which is used for that one submission and never stored.

Is FileMyLtd part of Companies House or HMRC?

No. FileMyLtd is independent software made by Cyber Spark IT Services Ltd, a UK company. It sends filings through the official Companies House and HMRC software filing services, which it is being tested against now.

How much will it cost?

Prices are £10 a year for a dormant company and £29 a year for micro-entity accounts with the CT600. Early joiners get 50% off: £5 and £14.50 a year. Nothing is charged without your say-so.

Create an account, add your company from the Companies House register and see your deadlines in a couple of minutes. FileMyLtd is in early access. Accounts and tax returns are being tested with Companies House and HMRC; live filing opens to early-access members first.
